The Paramount Theatre Seattle was built in 1907 and has become the oldest standing theatre in the Washington city. Indeed, in 1974, the Paramount Seattle was added onto the National Register of Historic Places.
In the late 1920s, the Paramount Seattle was hailed as a "magnificent cathedral of entertainment," known for its use of stunning decor, unique architecture and, at the time, advanced technology.
Over the decades, the Paramount Seattle has seen numerous changes in both its appearance and operations with a series of renovations and function overhauls. During its early days, The Paramount Theatre schedule featured predominantly vaudeville acts, before switching to movie screenings and then live music.
However, while the forms of entertainment showcased in the Paramount Seattle at any given time may have fluctuated, one thing which did remain constant, was the venue's dedication to excellence - including its ability to attract and book many of the biggest names in entertainment. The Beach Boys, Bob Hope, Gladys Knight, Frank Sinatra, Bette Midler, Robin Williams, Barry Manilow and Madonna are just a few of those featured on the Paramount schedule over the years.
Nowadays, the Paramount Theatre schedule is all encompassing, listing everything from stand-up comedy and movie events, to live music, theatre and musicals.
